How To Make And Submit A Google Sitemap

Many web-marketers believe that creating and submitting a sitemap to Google is a fast-track way to having your site indexed.

A sitemap is a specially formatted list which tells Google the names, locations and most recent modification dates of each web page.

This is a must-do for anyone serious about getting Googles attention.

1. Go to http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps and create a free account. Register your website. Generate the Google code and place it in the topmost folder of your website.

2. Go to http://sitemap.xmlecho.org/sitemap/start.echo If you don’t already have an account, create one for free.

3. Type in the site URL:

4. Click “Make Sitemap”. You will see:

7. Click “Download ZIP”

8. Download and unzip the file. It will consist of 2 files:
client.php and sitemap.php

9. Upload the 2 unpacked files to the topmost directory of your website, the same folder which contains your main index.htm file. For this you will need FTP rights to your site, as well as FTP software.

10. Return to XmlEcho in your browser.

11. Click “Test Upload”. You will see:

13. You are done. Logout or create another sitemap by clicking “Start Again”
